New Semester, New English Website

Hello and welcome back all! It was great to see so many new and familiar English-teacher faces at the adjunct convocation Wednesday night! It was so nice to actually all sit down together, so I want to extend thanks to Bill and Steve for inviting everyone!

First, as everyone gears up for the semester, be aware of an exciting new development: the English Faculty Webpage!! This is a great resource for "one-stop shopping" if you will, with links for you to submit syllabus and office hours, reminders about important deadlines and forms, information on syllabus content, description of the cadre project and much more! Please check out this website, which is SOOOO delightfully easy to navigate and use, as we'll be using it to submit syllabi, office hours, and course scheduling preferences. A huge pat on the back to Steve Brandon for putting this together! The link is: http://jsrccenglishfaculty.weebly.com and the password is "englishprof"

Other important news: for teachers of ENG 111 make sure you get details about the mandatory VCCS writing diagnostic you'll need to do in the first two weeks of classes. Melissa Feeley is working with Bill and Steve to get computer labs reserved for this project, so please contact her or Steve Brandon for details.

Finally, I hope to use the blog this year as a discussion and exchange space where the English faculty can share their questions, ideas, strategies, and solutions over the course of the semester! Please email me (aboure@reynolds.edu) regarding activities that should be added to our calendar. If there are discussion threads you'd like to see, let me know. This should be a great space for exchange, given the conflicting and busy schedules of our faculty, since it is often difficult for folks to meet in person--so let's meet on-line!! Looking forward to a great semester!!
